How To Hang A Stuffed Animal Hammock (2024 Updated)

A stuffed animal hammock is a stylish way to keep your bedroom floor clutter-free while keeping your precious stuffed animals on full display!

Here’s how to hang a stuffed animal hammock.

7 Easy Steps In Hanging A Stuffed Animal Hammock

1. Choose A Specific Spot

Choose A Specific Spot

The first step to hanging a stuffed animal hammock is to choose its spot. We highly recommend sprucing up that lonely corner, but the flat side of a wall would work just as well!

Avoid putting the hammock in the areas above doorways and windows, and don’t put it too close to the ceiling. Consider its height as well — do you want to hang the hammock somewhere you can easily reach?

2. Prepare the Hammock

Next, prepare the fabric of the hammock. Around six feet is ideal for the hammock, but remember that this is only an estimate. You can buy a net fabric so the stuffed animals can peek through while hanging. A silk scarf or a soft, floaty piece of fabric will work just fine as an alternative if you have those at home, so you won’t have to go out and spend some money.

Prepare the hammock by bunching the fabric at one end and making a 7-inch loop. Secure the loop with a string in your favorite color, so it doesn’t come undone, but make sure you leave a bit of room to slip your finger under it as you’ll need it for later. Do the same for the other end.

3. Mark Hook Positions On The Wall

Get back to number one and place your prepared hammock from number two exactly where you want it. Mark the hammock position on the wall with a pencil so you’ll know where to stick the self-adhesive hooks.

4. Carefully Install the Hooks

Follow the instructions on the packaging of the self-adhesive hooks (we highly recommend Command Hooks) and install the hooks on the marks you made in number three. It’s a great idea to wait a while (at least 30 minutes) before hanging anything on the freshly-installed hooks, so they don’t get dislodged easily. [1

5. Hang the Hammock

Once that’s done, hang the hammock by catching the string you used to bunch the ends of the fabric together to the wall hook. Arrange the fabric accordingly.

6. Arrange The Stuffed Animals

Once you’ve hung the hammock on the self-adhesive hooks, fill it with your favorite stuffed animals and arrange it with your favorites in front! Be careful, though, on overfilling it, so the hammock doesn’t collapse and you end up right where you started.

7. Add Another Hammock Below (Optional)

Of course, if one hammock isn’t enough to keep all your stuffed animals off the floor, you can set up another one just below it. Just repeat the steps above for the second hammock.

This time, try using a fabric in a different color — one that would complement the one you’d just put above it!
