Since the dawn of time (probably, we don't have a Tardis to verify) human beings have been creating and collecting dolls. What were likely twisted blades of grass and strips of cloth grew up and evolved over the centuries, but the joy of dolls has never waned. They are an enduring plaything made in our own likeness; meant to live out the imaginary lives we'd like to have. Read more
At Toynk.com, we recognize the importance of dolls and other collectible figures. Their collectible popularity started around the 19th century, when France and Germany started making porcelain-headed baby dolls. Celluloid, a lighter weight and more durable material, followed soon after in figures like the Kewpie doll. Plastic replaced celluloid and flourished in the early 20th century. Then enter the late 1950s, when a feisty, fashionable figure named Barbie hit the scene. They rest, they say, is modern history.
In addition to Barbies, we stock all sorts of dolls and figures. Check out other classic dolls like Cabbage Patch Kids to bring back memories, or give one as a gift to your favorite child so they can make their own memories. Sailor Moon and Living Dead Dolls are modern pop culture, and our selection of Disney Descendants dolls lets you imagine the next generation of princesses as daughters of your favorite Disney heroines.
If you're shopping to collect, take care to protect your dolls and their value. Store or display them out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, but don't store it in an attic or basement. More than likely, these places aren't climate controlled and you risk exposing your doll to extreme heat or cold, mold, humidity or nibbling creatures. Keep your displayed dolls looking lovely by dusting them often, and take care to clean or repair any damage to their clothing. (Don't replace them! Original clothing can be quite valuable.) Of course, keep them away from your curious dogs, cats, birds, lizards or whatever. Pets often explore the world by chewing on things-not ideal if you want to keep your doll in tiptop shape.
