New To Netflix: September 2018

What To Watch On Netflix Sep. 2018

Hello, all you wacky and wonderful people. I’m here to tell you guys about some of the awesome additions making their way to Netflix this month (Sep. 2018). A lot has happened in the Netflix world over the last month or two since I last told you what to watch. Some good, some bad, some that will leave you wondering what the heck the Netflix execs are thinking when they greenlight this stuff. Either way, I’m here to let you know the new. Since this month has already started, I’ll start by letting you know what’s new that you can already enjoy, then we’ll go over some of the notable releases later this month! So relax and let the stress of trying to scroll through and find something to watch just melt away. I got this one (awkward wink and point).

Already Released (Sep. 1 – 5)

KK

Say hello to my favorite gangster movie and most likely yours too: Scarface. If you don’t know the story of Scarface, yes you do. He’s a guy who starts poor, begins to sell drugs, gets rich, and dies in a blaze of glory. What’s not to love, right? However, I understand that may not be everyone’s style. If that’s the case, perhaps an adventure flick might tickle your fancy. King Kong is a classic with many reimaginings through the years. Still not feeling it? Maybe Disney’s Lilo and Stitch would be more up your alley. It’s tough not to fall in love with a Disney creation. Even if it is a fuzzy blue space alien with too many limbs. No matter what kind of movies you like best, the newest batch of shows and movies to hit “the shelves” of Netflix so far this month will surely include something you enjoy. Even if there’s nothing you like up yet this month, there are still twenty-five days of releases left. Chill.

Notable Early Month Netflix Releases (Sep. 1 – 10)

break

Hopefully, you’re reading this at home and not while in detention at school. Because if you’re reading this at home, you can totally go watch The Breakfast Club right now if you want! That’s almost enough of a reason to stand very still in a trench coat with your fist in the air. Also available to watch this very moment is Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove. If you haven’t seen it yet and have always wondered what it would be like if David Spade played a Lama, you’re a weirdo. You’re also in luck! Black Panther ferociously clawed its way onto the platform this month too. Rounding off the early month releases we’ve got Stretch Armstrong & The flex Fighters: Season 2!?!?!? See, this is what I’m talking about. Not only did Netflix greenlight a show about a toy from the 1980s – They approved a second season. I will never understand.

Notable Mid-Month Netflix Releases (Sep. 10 – 20)

norm

Breaking into the mid-month releases we’ve got a Netflix original series that’s actually not that bad. It’s season 2 of American Vandal. If you haven’t watched season 1 yet, do yourself a favor and check it out. If you have, then you’re probably excited for the release of season 2 on Sep. 14. Norm Macdonald Has A Show is something that you might want to follow with E.I.E.I.O. but it’s actually the name of Norm Macdonald’s new show also dropping its premiere episode on Sep 14. On Sep. 16 the Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd duo screeches into your Netflix “recently added” section with Role Models. Spoiler alert! They aren’t great role models. Rounding off the mid-month releases is D.L. Hughley: Contrarian – The newest hour-long stand up comedy special from one of the original kings of comedy, Mr. D.L. Hughley.

Notable Late Month Netflix Releases (Sep. 21 – 30)

Maniac-trailer

Maniac. Let me just say that again. Maniac. I cannot wait for the release of the Netflix original limited series, Maniac. It has (skinny) Jonah Hill, Emma Stone, and a ton of trippy, mind-altering, multidimensional psychotic meltdowns that begin to blend the fabrics of reality and fantasy into one single, all-encompassing quilt of madness. Yeah, Maniac. (Sep. 21) Go check out the trailer and tell me you’re not excited to see that. Also coming to Netflix later this month is Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time. The story is about a girl in search of her father, through multiple dimensions and planets and galaxies, all made possible because of his scientific discoveries. This movie literally has everything. Even Oprah. Yeah, Oprah is in this movie. How cool is that? (Sep. 25)

Chef’s Table: Volume 5 (Sep. 28)

chef

If you like cooking shows, you are in luck. Chef’s Table: Volume 5 will be at the perfect temperature starting Sep. 28. If you haven’t seen Chef’s Table yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot. It’s a cooking show, but it’s also a documentary series, and it’s also an art film. There are shots in this show that look like they would be found in a movie with a multibillion-dollar budget. Truly awe-inspiring, breathtaking shots of not only the amazing dishes these chefs prepare for the show but also the region they are from and the farms and markets where they source their produce and meat. It can really open your eyes to not only what the life of a chef is like, but also what level of hard work and dedication goes into the preparation of each dish. These people are true artists whose medium just happens to be delicious food.

Big Miracle (Sep. 30)

miracle

It seems fitting that the last movie to be released on Netflix this month is also the last one I write about. Big Miracle is the inspiring true story of three stranded whales and the heroic efforts of a team of news reporters, as well as the hard work of an entire town and even some people you would least expect to help out to try and set them free. Three humpback whales become stranded under a five-mile stretch of frozen sea with just a small hole to breathe through. When a struggling newsman breaks the story, his partner does everything she can to mobilize an icebreaker ship, to get the support of the locals and to do whatever it takes to return the majestic creatures to the deep, open waters they once called home. They must fight the elements as the bitter cold threatens to block the whales in permanently. They cut a path through the ice and set the wondrous creatures free, but not before realizing how similar we are to them first. Through dedication, passion, and the will to survive, people saved the lives of three beautiful whales who are undoubtedly grateful for their help. A must watch for animal lovers and feely feelers alike.

Go Forth And Watch

Well, there you have it. My list of what has already been released and what is yet to be released to Netflix for September 2018. There were some comedies, some dramas, some cartoons, some intense action flicks, and even a mockumentary. What do you watch when you’ve watched it all? Watch yourself watching these September Netflix releases. Don’t forget to check back early next month for my What To Watch: October edition. My guess is there will be some frights on the list! See you then!
